Working On Your Behalf Every Step Of The Way

A Trusted Advocate In Mississippi Divorce

Under Mississippi law, you may file for divorce if you and your spouse agree that irreconcilable differences exist. If you feel your spouse’s actions are responsible for the breakdown of the marriage, you can file for divorce based on fault grounds. This can include cruel and inhuman treatment, adultery (divorce may be granted on a spouse’s sexual conduct during separation), habitual alcohol or drug use, abuse, desertion or bigamy.

In order to file for divorce in Mississippi, one spouse must be a resident of the state for a minimum of six months. Upon filing for divorce on the basis of irreconcilable differences, there is a waiting period of 60 days.

Our clients work with David from the initial consultation through the resolution of the case. You will not be shuffled off to a junior attorney or paralegal.

A divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences may be contested if both parties agree to terms of custody and child support for any children under 21, as well as terms of dividing assets and debt. If the parties cannot agree on these matters, they may file for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences and allow the court to rule on the disputed issues.
